The position display controls are very useful for creating precisely tiled patterns. The bottom three buttons control the vertical axis setting the display to the top, center and bottom edge of the selected object respectively. These represent the Left, Center and Right edges of the design, which means that when you have the Left button set, the display will show the precise position of the of the left edge of the design in relation to the center of the design page. The three buttons above control the display of the x-axis position of the design. You can precisely position embroidery designs using these buttons. With the Left and Top buttons set on the X and Y axis respectively, the display on the menu bar (shown inset for clarity) shows the position of the upper left corner of the design. Use this advanced customizing feature for perfect layouts. Precise Positionĭisplay accurate positions of any design on the page. It can be hard to hoop a towel, and the topping stabilizer will want to slide around before the stitching happens, so basting it first can make the process easier. A typical use of this is to add a layer of water-soluble topping to a towel, which will prevent the terry cloth loops from coming up through the embroidery. This is useful when you want to add a layer of stabilizer or some other material before the sewing of a design.īut with Embrilliance Enthusiast, a basting stitch can be added to the hoop, which allows for a layer of topping stabilizer to be basted in place before any designs are sewn. With Essentials, individually selected embroidery designs can have a basting stitch added automatically. You can even use many regular hoops in a side-by-side arrangement so your sewing field is now as wide as it is tall. Use Mega Hoop, Plus Hoop, Jumbo Hoop, Dream Hoop, Hoop-It-All, etc. Split AUTOMATICALLY using our patented feature. Many built-in multiple position hoops pre-loaded. To choose a hoop, click the preferences button on the toolbar, and the Hoops window will appear: This is accomplished automatically with multi-position hoops, but to make it easier for regular hoops, the program will add basting stitches which will align the designs. When sewing embroidery designs in multiple sections, often the question of alignment comes up. We call this a “Virtual Hoop.” Embrilliance Enthusiast comes with many basic hoops and virtual hoops pre-defined. However, you can achieve the same result by re-hooping the fabric multiple times to create the design. This means that you only hoop the fabric once and generate the design by sewing it in those multiple sections. Split designs over multi-position hoops with less visible seams. In most cases, the final product is indistinguishable from one created on a larger-field machine. Our splitting drastically reduces the visible ‘seams’ that occur from manually splitting files using an editor. In the past, splitting a design took hours of editing by a person schooled in the process. This system automatically splits embroidery designs into multiple positions for sewing as separate designs which tile together to make a larger design. Multiple hooping So, you saw it on the Internet and had to have it, but it’s too big for your machine…Įmbrilliance Enthusiast has our patented embroidery design splitting technology built into it. Maybe you just want to remove a portion of a design to make a pocket topper whether the changes are large or small, Enthusiast gives you the tools to make your designs stitch the way you want them to. Sometimes, you may even want to add a few stitches to eliminate a gap or increase coverage in an area that’s not necessarily a fill. Other times, there are overly dense tangles of stitches that simply cannot be removed automatically, and you want to take out what you don’t need. Sometimes there are parts of a design that you simply do not want, or that you want to move and replace. Select an element, move, remove, rotate, copy, paste, recolor and re-use any part of your design, any way you like! The ability to edit individual stitches is amazingly useful. Select and correct stray stitches, including cleaning up jump stitches and ensuring tie stitches before and after jumps/trims. Select and use a simple slider to repair gaps in stitching, adjust compensation, or select and click to change stitch types from satins, to split satins, to fills and back. You can select stitches in any design using Lasso and similar tools, allowing you to move, delete, copy, paste, split, rotate, and more. Advanced Thread palette editor (when combined with Essentials)Įmbrilliance Enthusiast gives you powerful, easy-to-use tools for stitch editing. If this is you, you might be an Enthusiast. Once you have mastered the Essentials, you might be ready to play a little bit more, explore more advanced functions, and take on a little challenge. Please note that silver is not permitted in a UK self-invested person pension (SIPP). There is no VAT or sales-tax to pay in any location, saving you money again compared to coins or small bars. You can choose to buy silver bullion in London (UK), Zurich (Switzerland), Singapore or Toronto (Canada). So most private investors must resort to small silver bars or coins. This is how the wholesale market trades physical silver, but the standard dealing amount is one tonne. Typically weighing around 1,000 troy ounces, Good Delivery bars are assayed to be 99.9% pure silver or better. The professional silver bullion markets only deal in large bars that meet the Good Delivery specifications of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA). Some investors and collectors like to buy a mixture of all three varieties making their collection diverse and work in their favor when the time comes to trade.Open your account today Why choose large-bar silver? Silver coins come with a higher premium because they are considered legal tender and instead of being endlessly produced, they come with limited mintages. Silver bars and rounds are ideal for the investor they come with a lower premium and they are incredibly easy to stack and store. They differ from coins by being produced in private mints, instead of the state-run mint. Silver comes in low premium bars and rounds which the only difference between the two is their shape. When it comes to silver bullion, there are three more common varieties that investors and collectors are familiar with. Similar to gold, silver has been used for thousands of years not only as currency, but as silverware, jewelry, and because of its electrical conductivity, it is also used industrially as electrical contacts. Pressures from life, financial difficulties, and the harder life due to the disasters-these difficulties bring us challenges in life. Many people become upset in times of adversity. Every curator selects and orders artworks, and her or his perspective adds to the subjectivity of the narrative. It is also metatextual in nature, as Gérard Genette examined in Palimpsests: Literature in the Second Degree (originally published in 1982): a metanarrative involves a relationship with other metanarratives without necessarily quoting or mentioning them.Īnd, of course, mention must be made of Jean-François Lyotard’s Postmodern Condition: A Report on Knowledge, the canonical book on postmodernism’s authoritative discourse, in which he defines postmodern as “incredulity towards metanarratives.”Ĭurating is metanarrative, as it embodies a narrative about narrative dealing with the nature, structure and signification of curatorial narratives. The prefix “meta” suggests both “beyond” and “about.” Hence, a metanarrative is a big story that may contain other small stories. We could add a fifth, typically 20 th-century metanarrative: totalitarianism, such as fascism, Nazism, Stalinism and Maoism. American historian Hayden White codified four Western master narratives: Greek fatalism, Christian redemptionism, bourgeois progressivism and Marxist utopianism. In short, metanarratives, also known as les grands récits, are philosophies, theories, ideologies, discourses or ideas that provide a totalizing, authoritarian and comprehensive explanation and legitimation of the world in terms of our historical experience or knowledge. Narrative basically allows us to relate to time by selecting and ordering those events that are relevant to us and our particular perspective of the world. But first we need to delve into the narrative condition of society.īe it myths, fables, history, videos, films, video games or our daily conversations, narrative is, to quote Roland Barthes and his Structural Analyses of Narratives 1977), “under this almost infinite diversity of forms present in every age, in every place, in every society it begins with the very history of mankind and there nowhere is nor has been a people without narrative.” At the same time, to paraphrase Jean-Luc Godard, a narrative has a beginning, middle and an end, but not necessarily in that order. Both exercises simply use examples to account for or clarify an idea that is narrative by nature.Īnd here is my third argument: the metanarrative nature of curating. Sorry, but I can’t really see a big difference between writing an article or an essay using the quotes of theorists, artists and art works and curating an exhibition not only using quotes from theorists and artists but also relying on the physical presence of artworks. That brings us to the second argument: If an art historian, art critic, novel writer, historian et al relies for his/her research on other practitioners, theories, concepts, and credos which they profusely quote in their texts, why should this be denied to “the curatorial” and, furthermore, dispatched in this case as illustrative, inappropriate or even abusive? The first argument is more of a practical nature and could be on its turn addressed with the following question: How does the discourse of an exhibition come about? If we leave aside commemorative exhibitions, biennials and festivals in which the curator has to respond to a previously determined umbrella theme or concept, there are basically two distinctive tendencies in curating: the exhibition as a result of a concept the curator wants to explore as part of the way she or he understands the world’s narratives and enables the coming together of artists, works and processes under a spatio-temporal context (the curator engages primarily with artists and their existing works and doesn’t normally go around commissioning new ones to prove her/his point) and the artist’s works, processes and discourses that reveal to the curator certain aesthetic and/or theoretical speculations that contain the seeds of a curatorial experience, as it’s the artist who prefigures and configures the curator’s concept, while the artist or artwork becomes the maker of meaning.Įvery exhibition is a “text” considered from a semiotic point of view, a message that has been constructed in any medium and may be typographic, oral or visual in nature. I sincerely find this an old-fashioned, unchallenging and seemingly odd assertion. This accusation is not only sustained by practitioners outside our artistic realm, but its fiercest champions are to be found among the ranks of art critics, art historians and artists. Too often I hear the complaint that curators, especially when conceiving a concept-based group show, merely use artists to illustrate the statement they’re trying to put forward. Very little existing research on the intersection of these topics is actually embedded in classrooms-so we aim to distill significant aspects of the relationship and share implications for teachers and learners. While mindfulness and creativity individually arise in education discourses, they are rarely linked and there is little to guide teachers in identifying research takeaways for the complexity of learning settings. Given the importance both areas have to thinking and learning, and their increasing presence in educational contexts, it is important to understand research on their relationship.įor our purposes in this thematic literature review, we seek to identify themes and trends in the research, and then discuss the implications for educational settings. These are broad ideas with unique connections to emotions, attention, stress, wellness, and awareness of one’s self and the world ( Baas, Nevicka, & Ten Velden, 2014). There is a theoretical reason for presuming an important relationship between them. Yet there is a need for a synthesis of extant research findings in understanding the mindfulness-creativity relationship and how it matters in learning settings. But perhaps more importantly, creativity is a way of being in the world with substantive value for human-centered wellbeing and expression ( Goff & Torrance, 1991).īoth mindfulness and creativity are complex areas that have been independently touted in education practices. Creativity is a complex area of research and practice, yet neoliberal perspectives have often driven educational discourse on creativity, emphasizing instrumentalist and societal drive toward innovation ( Mehta, Creely, & Henriksen, 2020). While this so-called ‘standard definition’ represents many existing research definitions, it does not embody the diversity and divergence of ways that creativity has been defined across a range of practices, disciplines and traditions ( Henriksen, Creely, & Henderson, 2019). Creativity is frequently defined as the ability to develop novel and effective ideas, artifacts, or solutions ( Runco, 2014). Scholars have suggested that the effects of mindfulness also relate to other skills and abilities, such as creativity ( Carson & Langer, 2006). Most mindfulness research has examined its potential to regulate stress and improve cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal functioning ( Sedlmeier et al., 2012). It is defined as a state of “nonjudgmental, moment-to-moment awareness” ( Kabat-Zinn, 1990, p.2), and has been studied across varied disciplines such as psychology, physiology, healthcare, neuroscience, the arts, and others. Mindfulness has recently received attention across scholarly and popular discourse ( King & Badham, 2018). Here, we explore the relationship, and also seek to explore the practical applications and implications for education contexts. These two areas have been increasingly discussed in education settings, yet there is little research-based guidance to help consider their interrelationship for teaching and learning. One relatively recent and growing area of literature involves the relationship between mindfulness and creativity ( Kudesia, 2015). This article reflects on the key findings of scholarly work on the mindfulness-creativity relationship with interpretative discussion and implications for educational research and practice.Įxisting research on creativity has examined its different relationships, connections, or variables-such as personality skills, neuroscientific or cognitive correlates of creativity, disciplinary knowledge, imagination, bodily thinking, or the ways that creativity emerges in real-world design settings, among others ( Runco, 2014). There is solid evidence to show a generally beneficial and supportive relationship, in that practicing mindfulness can support creativity-but many factors affect this and there are a range of considerations for practice. This thematic review and qualitative analysis of extant literature identifies four themes that speak to the connection between mindfulness and creativity. Our goal is to understand findings from the literature and consider the implications for educational practice and research, with an eye to how mindfulness can be supportive to learners’ creativity. This article reviews the literature on the intersection of these topics in order to understand where and how these two related but distinctive areas of research connect, and how this pertains to the complexity of education settings. Mindfulness and creativity have both come to the forefront of educational interest-but a better understanding of their relationship and the implications for education is needed. Fischl with constellation 6 abuses this so much along with Hu tao’s attacks constantly applying Pyro and Hydro from Xinqiu’s burst. At any given point, you can be inflicting 3 elemental reactions at once. This allows you to not only get Electrocharged reaction damage but also allows you to simultaneously inflict Overload and Vaporize. Xingqiu plays so well with electro supports. If you’re finding yourself taking more damage than you’d like, Bennett would be a fine replacement for Xiangling. If you’re careful in not taking damage with your supports Hu Tao is able to heal herself through her burst and with the aid of Xingqiu. This team is overall hurt by not having a dedicated healer so it can struggle in Spiral Abyss. He also has a hidden ability here to increase your team’s elemental mastery as well further increasing your vaporized reaction damage from Hu Tao. Not to mention he can just drop an elemental burst every now and again for a ton of AOE damage.Īlbedo is the passive damage prince, being able to remain off-field for 30 seconds while applying a steady stream of damage and receive a Geo boost from the resonance that makes the job that much easier for your main DPS. The fact that Zhongli can play both offense and defense at the same time is one of the main reasons for his prominence and why he’s not easily replaced. A nice and sturdy shield will help prevent her from getting one-shot or combo killed out of nowhere. Zhongli’s shield will be vital as Hu Tao performs her best under 50% health. If performance is what you’re after, it’ll be hard to justify another character above him. That all being said, you could substitute Xinqiu for any other Hydro here you like if you prefer their playstyle. Xingqiu’s rain swords attack very quickly which actually works in our favor because before Hu Tao executes her charge attack, she actually performs a basic attack which will spark the rain swords in time to apply Hydro for the charge attack. Lastly, Electro resonance may seem bad on paper but it actually puts in work and allows you to spam your burst frequently.Īs we discussed previously, Hu Tao’s charge attack does not have an internal cooldown and can spark reactions as fast as you can queue up the next charge attack. If paired with a weapon that is also lackluster in the base attack department, the overall boost won’t be as enticing as it would be for other main DPS characters.Ĭryo resonance is also another interesting take allowing you to stack more crit damage in your artifacts. However, Fervent Flames is less attractive here than usual because of Hu tao’s low natural base attack. Since we’re trying to increase Hu tao’s overall damage, Fervent Flames and Enduring Rock will be our go-to resonances when we can afford to do so. Note that she not only relies on Pyro reactions but Electrocharge, Freeze, and Overload are also extremely important for her. This means that on top of having a higher multiplier than her auto-attack combo, we can consistently trigger either Melt or Vaporize for as long as her skill is active and we have stamina. One of the main reasons these elemental reactions help put out so much compared to other characters is that Hu Tao’s charge attack has no internal cooldown. So, we’ll be triggering Vaporized more often but that doesn’t stop her Melt teams from being solid options as well. While Melt does provide more damage, we’ll see once we get to the team comps that her actual best partner is a Hydro character. These are the bedrocks for any Pyro main DPS as they’ll either multiply your damage by 1.5 or 2x depending on which reaction you trigger. The main two that you’ll be striving to include on every team are Melt or Vaporize. Hu tao’s potential damage output is very high and one of the main factors of that is her elemental reactions. We’ll be discussing team comps from the best of the best to those easily accessible to free-to-play players. The elemental resonances we can take advantage of, and what teammates will help to improve Hu tao’s overall damage. We’ll be taking a look at what elemental reactions we’ll want to make a priority when choosing teammates. Characters: Wriothesley, Neuvillette, Hu Tao, Venti |
